Defining Biased Interview

By sidharth in Uncategorized

Because we’re not super popular and famous in blogosphere (or any sphere for that matter), we don’t have people asking us for interviews. However, that will not be stopping me from being interviewed about 10pens today, as I have found a loophole: I can interview myself. The below is a transcript from a verbal interview of me by me. It is not unedited.

Me: Sidharth, why don’t we start by you explaining where you came up with the name 10pens.
Me: Sure. Once the idea for 10pens had been fleshed out, we were trying to think of a name. It came to me when I was asleep and I dreamt about killer pens with guns that shot ink chasing me. I wouldn’t have minded the ink so much, but the color of the ink was this strange yellowish-brownish-ocher and that’s just disgusting.

Me: I see. Tell me a bit about what 10pens is.
Me: 10pens is a site Utsab and I are working on that aims to help college applicants and job seekers in their respective goals. It won’t be a destination for all the help one needs with those tasks, however. It will be focused specifically on college admissions essays and on resumes/cover letters.

Me: Great. You wrote before that the product was in an early development stage, is this still true?
Me: Yeah, we’re working on building the site right now. We have the design work pretty much done, and we’ve moved on to developing the product itself. We’ve also been working on getting the word out a little bit about what we’re building, to try to get feedback. Finally, we’re continually working on strategies for marketing this while staying under budget.

Me: Ah. And what is your ‘marketing budget?’
Me: Oh, I can’t really remember.

Me: Approximately?
Me: Approximately? Zero.

Me: Zero? Why are you so poor?
Me: Hey, watch it there buddy.

Me: Sorry. So, when will the site be up?
Me: Not sure. I think I’ll save that for a real interview

Me: Okay. Can you at least tell us a little bit about the nature of the site?
Me: We are hoping to provide a platform that will encourage the development of a user community interested in editing each others’ work on their college and job applications. There are very few options for getting your essays or job applications reviewed, and even fewer options for helping others by reviewing those essays and applications. We hope to provide such a service for people interested in using it.

Me: Okay. Is there anything you’d like to tell people that read this interview?
Me: Yes, Thanks for reading!! Please leave any remarks or ask any questions in the comments. Anything at all, and we will read/answer every one of them.
